Rare Antique Civil War French Perrin Revolver

Rare Antique Civil War French Perrin Revolver

An original, Rare Antique Civil War French Perrin cartridge Revolver. Five hundred and fifty of these were delivered to the US Federal Government, by Alexis Godillit, in 1862.

These Revolvers were imported during the Civil War and they are considered a secondary U.S. Martial piece. There were also some purchased for the Southern Confederacy.

It has a Spurless Hammer and is a 6-shot, Double Action Revolver that fired a very advanced 12mm caliber self-contained cartridge. The round barrel is 6" long. A very important gun for a Civil War Arms Collection.

Marked "PERRIN / & Cie Bte" on the right side of the frame and "PARIS" on the left side. The matching low serial number #574 also appears on the bottom of the barrel under the ejector rod/cylinder pin, on the left side of the frame, and on the cylinder.

The one-piece walnut grips are in good condition, with a small crack at the bottom of the tang, and some minor dings. The steel butt cap contains a lanyard ring.

This Perrin is in good condition, with smooth bright metal throughout with small scattered areas of minor blemishes. The double action system works very well and is crisp and tight; the trigger pull is tight. The loading gate and the front bead sight are missing.

The cylinder pin is kept in place by the ejector rod which swivels on a collar around the rear of the barrel. Very high quality of machining and metal finish.
